The Force is strong in us

I am going to have to put this on my Xmas wish list. Yes, I rather unsurprisingly, already have the Mindflex game, but not the Star Wars Force trainer. It doesn't look half as much fun as the MF but it's Star Wars, so enough said really. If I get it I will be playing the John Williams score loudly at the same time! Check it out.

Hot of the press

One of our official snaps from our meeting the other day. We almost look professional, almost…

Hush hush for now

I know that a lot of you have been asking so thought it worth a quick post about it, but we still can't reveal who's funding us just yet  - sorry guys. When we can, you'll be the first to know!

We’re in shock!

We still can’t believe it. Project Black Mirror is ON. We have funding and a hangover...thank god we did the press stuff yesterday. Some of the shots are hilarious - yes Josh. We might share when we get them. But we do have videos from the interview we did with the investors PR!!. They cover alot of the questions we’ve had. There are 4 up on YouTube now and we'll add the rest soon. And again sorry we haven't got back to everyone but it’s just been SO CRAZY. MASSIVE THANKS FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT!!!

OMG we've got a meeting!

HOLY S*&% we're going to go and meet the investor tomorrow!!!!!!!  I have absolutely no idea how I'm going to concentrate from now until then. We're basically just going into some mad testing frenzy from now until then so that we don’t have a Graham situation on our hands.

Cruise control with your mind!

Yup that's right. These guys at the Free University of Berlin, who helped inspire us, have done it so that you can override the speed and direction of a driverless car! More about how they did it here

It’s tricky to master

Here’s a little video of Graham trying to use the set-up, as you can see he hasn’t be spent enough time training his brain,… which is vital so that we can match the brain waves.  As you can see this tech is still pretty sketchy as it takes a lot of practice and even then it doesn’t always do what you want, it’s a constantly evolving /refining process.

Monday madness

Happy Monday! So we're back and feeling more with it after a pretty mental weekend. We've basically been so excited about everything that we spent most of the weekend celebrating. But we couldn't have done it without all your support so thanks so much for everything, we're still in shock,we still can't quite believe it.

The huge news is we are close to having investment!

It just keeps on getting better and better. It's all pretty early at this stage so we can't say too much, which is annoying, but at the same time we don't want to blow it as we are VERY close to a deal with the Investor  I'm not going to say any more as I'm pretty sure that I might let the cat of the bag if i do. But it does mean that we're going to hold off on kickstarter for now until we find out what's going on.

Watch this space, this is going to be huge !

My inbox has exploded !

WOW, we always knew this could be huge, But we didn't think it would be this huge!

I've just gotten up, ( lets just say we had one too many beers last night to celebrate the week) and my inbox had exploded!  I will  do my best to reply to as many of them as possible. ... but right now I think I just need some coffee.

Friday, 11 November 2011

WOW, it's all happening !

What a mad day!

the lovely people from wrote a piece on us ( )  we are really happy to have a site we respect so much write about our little project !

Also today we have got the go ahead form kickstarter,  to get  project black mirror up there,  now all we need to do is set up an US business.. eeek ! ( anyone know how to set up a business in the US ?)

all in all we are pretty hyped! I don't know about you but I think we have earned a beer this Friday night !

Cheers !

Project Black Mirror: Lets get some funding !

You may have noticed we think this Project we have been working on is pretty freaking cool.  Now we have decided to see if we can take it to the next level and see if we can get some funding to be able to take this to market. Last night we recorded this video, to submit to Kickstarter.

So everyone cross their fingers, with a little luck, and some funding this could change the way we interact with not only siri, but all devices !

Wednesday, 9 November 2011

Stay tuned...

For the next installment of Project Black Mirror. we're still working hard on the mind control demo for KickStarters. this means that you're going to have to wait a bit longer for the demo!

see you soon!

Mind Control Games.

Does this game use mind control? or is it just a clever use of the camera!? we think so, but it's been fun seeing how its mind controlling capabilities compare with ours!

We're getting started on filming our mind control demo for KickStarter soon. hopefully we'll get funding so that we can just get better and better.

wish us luck!

It's my turn

Here's a little video from the other night with me trying to control Siri with my mind, as you can see I'm not as good as Josh..... But it still works, and that STILL blows me away !

I was chatting with Josh & Graham Last night and we decided to do a demo for KickStarter to see if we can get some funding, so if we can take Project Black Mirror to the Market !

I'll post the video here when we are done !

we ren't the only ones playing with siri

this is kinda cool !... but is it as cool a mind control  ?

It Works !

It works ! it really works ! it's so freaking amazing.

Here's how we did it !
1. ECG pads provide raw skin conductivity / electrical activity as analogue data (0-5v).
2. This is plugged into the Arduino board via 4 analogue inputs (no activity = 0v, high activity = 5v).
3. The Arduino has a program burnt to it’s EPROM  chip that filters the signals.
4. Josh trained the program by  thinking of the main Siri commands (“Call”, “Set”, “Diary” etc.) one at a time and the program where we  captured the signature brain patterns they produce.
5. The program can detect the signature patterns that indicate a certain word is being thought of. The program will  then wait for a natural ‘release’ in brain waves and assume the chain of commands is now complete and action is required.
6. The series of commands are fed to a SpeakJet speech synthesiser chip
7. The audio output of which simply plugs into the iPhone’s microphone jack.

We still can't believe it really works.

I've been doing bits of the brain training it too, and there's a video of me... lets just say I need to do some more concentrating

this shit might just work !

After a Very Full on weekend of working on this, we are getting very VERY Close to having a working demo. everything now connects through, now all we need to do is work out how to make sense of these Bran Patters.... but even that is coming along well.

Part of me can't believe how quickly we've been able to pull this all together.

All work and not play makes Ollie, something something.

Wow what a weekend,  Josh and I spend the whole weekend working on Project Black Mirror.  We've been making great progress. The arduino board is starting to look the part,  now our mod'ed SpeekJet chip is in place ( the processing we've done for this mod is more than a little bit mental!)...

While I've been working on the board, Josh has been trying to map his brain waves, so that we'll then be able to match the patterns, and fire off a command..... All.Very. Cool.

We are feeling pretty hyped by this, and really think we are onto something huge... I can't wait to show you a demo.

Do Tinfoil Hats Really Block Your Brain Waves ?

.... good to know whne the aliens come a knocking ! best get back to Project Black Mirror wish me luck !

Mind control cat ears ? WTF !?!

Mind control seems to have gone mainstream (well atleast in japan) with these cat ears which are controlled by brain wave activity.  Like tipical Japanese they really are a bit mental, not sure if I love the or hate them. but I am sure it's the start of the next stage of interaction

As for our own little project we spent all day working on the speakjet chip, to make it sound a bit more natural, and it’s coming along nicely !

baby steps !

Busy day today, nothing to report just lots of thinking and broken circuit boards. But I thought I would show you some of our inspiration,  some who have made us think that we can do this !

The first are the guys from b-reel, they have made this amazing interface  between  Neurosky  headset through an Arduino board to control a Scalextric set.

Kudo to the genius of Riccardo Girald you are a star !

Hello world

Yeah, I know it's cliche. But how else do you start a blog?

This is the blog where we are going tell you all about a littel project  Josh and I  dreamted up over the weekend, and we're pretty hyped about.

We have decied to work out out how we can take talking to Siri to the next level. yep, we are going to see if we can control Siri not with our voice, but with out thoughts.  Last night we put down on paper our plan, and today we are going to start building it.

Josh is on his way around, I can't wait to get started !
